Storm in Peshawar, Nowshera, and Charsadda Kills 3 and Injures 11 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

A powerful storm swept through Peshawar, Nowshera, and Charsadda districts in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday, claiming three lives—including two children—and injuring 11 others. The severe weather caused widespread damage, with strong winds uprooting trees, collapsing walls, and damaging infrastructure.

In Peshawar’s Ghanta Ghar vegetable market, two fatalities and three injuries occurred when a tree toppled onto bystanders. Separately, a six-year-old child from a nomadic community died in Rano Ghari after a wall collapsed during the storm. Rescue teams reported additional injuries in Afghan Colony and Asad Anwar Colony due to structural failures.

In Charsadda, a 10-year-old child was injured by a collapsing roof, while Nowshera saw three individuals hurt in wall collapses and two motorcyclists struck by a falling tree. Local authorities, including the Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar, conducted emergency inspections and directed immediate medical care for the injured. Officials also urged residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during storms, steer clear of unstable structures, and stay vigilant near power lines.

Disaster response teams, including Rescue 1122, remain on high alert, clearing debris and assisting affected communities. The district administration continues to monitor the situation, prioritizing public safety and preventive measures to mitigate future risks.
