Apple has reached a pivotal stage in resolving a class-action lawsuit alleging that Siri, its voice assistant, improperly recorded users without consent. The tech giant agreed to a $95 million settlement, allowing eligible customers to submit claims for compensation.

Individuals who owned an iPhone, Apple Watch, or other Apple devices between September 2014 and December 2024 and experienced unintended Siri activations—such as the voice assistant triggering during private conversations—may qualify for a payout. Claims must be filed by July 2, with final court approval expected in August.

The lawsuit originated in 2019 after a whistleblower revealed that Apple contractors reviewed recordings from accidental Siri activations, including sensitive discussions.
