Thailand and Nepal secured first and second place, respectively, at the recent Women’s T20 Asia Qualifier tournament, earning advancement to the next stage of qualification for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Hosted in Bangkok, the event featured nine teams competing for two spots in the global qualifiers, which will determine participation in the 2026 World Cup set to take place in England and Wales.
In the final round, Thailand, Nepal, and the UAE battled for supremacy. Thailand dominated their match against the UAE, posting 144/5 after strong batting performances by key players, followed by a disciplined bowling effort that limited the UAE to 90/5. Nepal later sealed their qualification with a tense five-wicket victory over the UAE, overcoming early setbacks in their chase of 115 runs. Nepal’s captain anchored the innings with a crucial 30 off 28 balls to secure the win.
Both teams will now join eight others in the global qualifiers, where four final spots for the 2026 World Cup will be contested. Further details about the qualifier schedule will be announced soon.
